RENEWING THE MIND
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:2
Glory to God! One of the most important things we must do when we are born again is the renewal of our minds. A consistent subjecting of the mind to God's thoughts and possibilities. Our opening scripture was writing to believers. These are people who had already given their lives to Christ, yet Apostle Paul told them to be transformed by the renewing of their minds. That means being born again did not remove the need to renew the mind. Your spirit was made new the moment you received Christ, but your mind has to be retrained. Think of it this way: when you buy a new phone and transfer all your old files to it, the old data is still there. In the same way, the mind comes with old patterns, old thoughts, and old beliefs from the world we grew up in. If those are not replaced, we will continue to think like the world even though we belong to God. That is what it means to be conformed to the world: to be pressed into its mould. The world has its own way of thinking about success, money, relationships, and even right and wrong, and if we are not careful, we will absorb it without noticing, just like we absorb the air around us.
Transformation does not start with behaviour; it starts with the mind. Many people try to change their habits without changing their thinking, and they keep going back to the same things. But as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. If you want a different life, you must have a different mind. And the way to renew the mind is through the Word of God. When the Word of God replaces our thoughts, our lives begin to change. Look at what the Apostle Paul says: when your mind is renewed, you can prove the will of God. That means you will begin to see and experience that God's will is good, acceptable, and perfect. A renewed mind is not afraid of God's will; it delights in it. The mind is the gateway to the heart, and the heart determines the course of our lives. A mind filled with the Word will produce a life filled with the fruit of the Word. Be mindful of what you are mindful of; be thoughtful about what you think about. Is it consistent with God's Word? Guard what you feed your mind with, whether it is the music you listen to, the things you watch, or the conversations you have. Today, choose to think God's thoughts. Replace every thought that contradicts His Word. Your mind will be renewed, your life will be transformed, and you will walk fully in the perfect will of God. Hallelujah!!!
