DAILY ENCOUNTER
FOLLOWING GOD'S VOICE II
"And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice." 1 Kings 19:12
Glory to God! God speaks, and God wants to speak to us. When we gave our heart to Jesus, the Spirit of the Lord came into our heart and renewed our souls; that was how we became born again. Being born again is being born with the ability to hear God's voice. Yesterday, we started on the subject of hearing God's voice; today, we will go even further into the subject. Hearing God's voice begins with being surrendered as a sheep following the shepherd. The voice of God can save you many years of fruitless labour. One of the challenges people are confronted with is knowing what to do. Even the subject about purpose is predicated on our ability to train ourselves to hear God's voice. God is always speaking; you are not just hearing Him, or rather, you don't feel like you are hearing Him. Let's discuss another important way God speaks: 'The still small voice'. Have you ever been in a place or in church and someone said the Lord just spoke to me now, and you didn't hear anything? You are wondering, is this person for real? I didn't hear anything; if God truly spoke to you, I should have heard Him because His voice will thunder through this entire place. But usually it is not always so. God speaks through the still small voice.
Elijah had just prevailed over the prophet of Baal, and Ahab the king told Jezebel all that Elijah did, and his wife became furious and sent a message to threaten Elijah that she was going to kill him in 24 hours. Elijah knew the woman was not joking and decided to run for his life. While in his journey the Lord came to speak to him, and there was a wind which broke through a mountain, but God's voice was not in it, an earthquake came, and His voice was not in it either. Then came the still small voice. This is where many people missed it; they always think God will come in a dramatic way when He wants to speak to them. Many times God has spoken to you; you didn't just believe that God was the one speaking, you thought it was your thought. Don't you know you have become one with the Spirit of God when you were born again? And the direct way God speaks to you will be by His Spirit on the inside of you? The Holy Spirit is God's voice to you, resident on your inside. Learn to train yourself to take heed of what is nudging you from within, the tension you feel, the unease over a situation, and the still small voice that didn't thunder, but you heard it. That's the voice of God. It takes training to follow God's voice; the earlier you start, the earlier you grow in it. Start listening within. Hallelujah!!!

REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- Am I quiet and surrendered enough to recognise the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit within me?
- What instruction or prompting from God have I sensed recently, and am I willing to obey it?
