DAILY ENCOUNTER
WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH
"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:23-24
Glory to God! Worship is not singing, as some may think; worship is a lifestyle. Jesus met a woman by the well, and as He was witnessing to her, she brought up a religious question that people were debating over. She said, 'Our fathers worshipped in this mountain, and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.' She wanted to know which location was correct. Jesus answered her by revealing the shift that was happening in the context of traditional worship. He said, 'The hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. ' Notice the last phrase. The Father is seeking worshippers. We usually think of ourselves as seeking God, but here, God is seeking us. He is looking for people who will give Him genuine worship. That means worship is the reason we were saved. Apostle Peter tells us that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, so that we should show forth the praises of Him who called us out of darkness. We were made to worship. Many people think worship is what happens in church on Sunday when the music is playing. But Jesus said worship is not about the mountain or Jerusalem; it is not limited to a building or a time. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.
To worship in spirit means to worship from the inside, through the Holy Spirit, not just with the lips or the body. You can sing loudly and still be far from God. To worship in truth means to worship through Jesus in the light of who He says He is. Jesus Himself said, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life,' so true worship is always centred on Him. Worship is a lifestyle. Apostle Paul says we should present our bodies as a living sacrifice, which is our reasonable service. That means what you do on Monday, in your office, in your business, and in your home can be an act of worship when it is done for the Lord. Think of Mary of Bethany, who broke a costly jar of ointment and poured it on the feet of Jesus. Others called it a waste, but Jesus called it a good work. True worship costs something; it costs us leaving our heart on the altar for the Lord in reverence. Worship also changes us. The more time we spend looking at God, the more He changes us into His image from glory to glory. Today, give God your heart without a performance; He wants your heart. The Father is looking for you. Let Him find a worshipper in you today. Hallelujah!!!

QUESTIONS
- Is my worship a genuine
expression of my heart, or has it become a routine I perform on Sundays?
- How can I turn my daily work
and decisions into acts of worship to God this week?
