FEAR NOT
"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Isaiah 41:10
Glory to God! Fear is an emotion that every human being has experienced in life, whether it was to give a presentation, introduce oneself to someone else, write a professional exam, or pursue a course of purpose. The fear of failure, the fear of sickness, the fear of the future, the fear of what people will say, and the fear of losing what we have. Fear has been part of human existence since the first time fear was mentioned in the Bible. After the fall, Adam said, 'I was afraid.' Since then, fear has followed man everywhere. But our opening scripture comes with a divine instruction and assurance: 'Fear thou not.' God never gives a command without providing the grace to make it possible. His command came with an assurance: First, 'I am with thee.' Fear thrives on loneliness, but God's presence makes sure we are never alone. Second, 'I am thy God.' This is a relationship, not just a one-time thing. Then He gives three promises: 'I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.' Strengthen speaks of power on the inside; help speaks of assistance from outside; uphold speaks of being carried when you cannot go on. Isn't it wonderful that God covers every direction? Fear says you are alone; God says, 'I am with thee.' Fear says you are weak; God says, 'I will strengthen thee.' Fear says nobody will help you; God says, 'I will help thee.'
Notice also the phrase 'be not dismayed'. To be dismayed is to look around anxiously, like someone who is lost and scanning everywhere for help. God says, Stop looking around and look to Me. Joshua needed to hear this before taking over from Moses, and the Lord said to him, 'Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.' Jairus needed to hear it when news came that his daughter had died, and Jesus said, 'Be not afraid, only believe.' The disciples needed it in the boat when they saw Jesus walking on the sea, and He said, 'Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.' In every case, the cure for fear was the presence of the Lord. The right hand of God's righteousness is a hand that has never failed and will never fail. Fear says, 'What if it goes wrong?' but faith says, 'God is with me.' Today, take every fear that has been following you and bring it to the One who holds you. Do not pretend it is not there; give it to Him. Courage is not the absence of fear but the decision to trust God in the middle of it. Fear not, for He is with you. Hallelujah!!!
