DAILY ENCOUNTER
HIDDEN IN HIS PRESENCE
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust." Psalm 91:1-2
Glory to God! Everybody needs a place of safety. Children run to their parents when they are afraid, and in times of danger, people look for a safe place to hide. Our opening scripture introduces us to the best hiding place there is: 'the secret place of the Most High'. Yesterday, we discussed the Word as a lamp that lights our path. Today, we discover that the Word also leads us to a place where we are covered. The psalmist says the one who dwells in the secret place shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Notice the word 'dwelleth'. This is not a place where you visit when there is an emergency; it is a place where you live. The secret place is a life of intimacy with God, where you spend time with Him in prayer, in worship, and in His Word. There are people who only run to God when trouble comes. But the one who has made the secret place a home does not need to run, because he is already there. When trouble comes, it finds him already hidden. Notice that it is the 'secret' place. It is not a public display. It is a private, personal relationship with God that nobody sees but Him. That is where real power and real protection come from. Every man or woman of God you admire in public was first built in secret. What happens in the closet determines what happens on the street.
Look at Noah. When the flood came, the Bible says the Lord shut him in. Those who were outside were swept away, but Noah was inside the ark, and it was God Himself who closed the door. Think of Moses, too, when he asked to see the glory of God. The Lord put him in the cleft of a rock and covered him with His hand while His glory passed by. Moses was hidden, he was safe, and he saw God. Then the psalmist declares, 'I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.' Notice the 'I will say.' Your confession matters. Do not just dwell; declare. Say it with your mouth: 'The Lord is my refuge and my fortress.' In a world full of uncertainty, with so many things that can steal your peace, you need a hiding place that cannot be shaken. Money can fail, people can leave, and plans can fall apart, but the secret place stands. Make time today to enter the secret place. Switch off the noise, close the door, and spend time with your Father. Do not rush out; linger there until your heart is calm and your faith is stirred. Let your life be so hidden in Him that when the storm comes, it will pass over you and find no entrance. You are hidden in His presence, and you are safe. Hallelujah!!!

- Do I have a daily secret place
with God, or do I only run to Him when trouble arrives?
