WALKING BY FAITH

"(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)" 2 Corinthians 5:7

Glory to God! Being a child of God is a function of faith, not because we saw a literal light from Heaven, but because we believe in the sacrifice of Christ for our redemption. Every other thing in this kingdom will be by faith. We have been called to a life of faith. The Apostle Paul says it in plain language: 'For we walk by faith, not by sight.' Everyone is walking by something. Some people walk by sight, which means they only believe what they can see, touch, and prove. If the bank account is empty, they conclude there is no hope. If the doctor's report is negative, they conclude it is the end. If the door is closed, they conclude there is no way. Sight tells you what is happening; faith tells you what God has said. Both are real, but only one is final. Sight is limited to the present, but faith reaches into the promise of God. That is why a believer must learn to put the Word of God above what the eyes can see. Notice that Paul says, 'We walk.' Faith is not just something we believe in our heads; it is something we walk out with our feet, it is something we live out in our lives. It shows up in our decisions, our steps, and the way we respond when things do not make sense. Think about Noah, who built an ark when nobody had ever seen a flood. He believed what God said and acted on it. Faith always moves before the evidence arrives.

Consider Peter when Jesus called him out of the boat to walk on the water. As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on the very thing that should have drowned him. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he became afraid and began to sink. The wind was there before he stepped out of the boat, so it was not new. What changed was his focus. He moved from walking by faith to walking by sight. Notice, however, that even in his sinking, Peter cried out, 'Lord, save me,' and Jesus immediately stretched out His hand. Faith is not perfection, but it is a continual looking to Jesus. Every day we face a choice between what we see and what He says, and the more we choose His Word, the stronger our faith grows. Walking by faith does not mean you ignore reality; it means you refuse to let reality have the final say. So, what has God told you that your eyes cannot yet see? Hold on to it. Write it down and keep it before you. Do not let the wind move you. Keep your eyes on Jesus, keep walking, and keep speaking what God has said. Some of the greatest miracles in the Bible happened to people who took a step before they saw a sign. What He has promised, He will perform. You are not walking alone, and you will not sink. Walk by faith today, and watch the water become your pathway. Hallelujah!!!
