GOD IS LIGHT

"This then is the message which we have heard of him and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." 1 John 1:5

Glory to God! Light makes it possible to see. It gives clarity and helps us distinguish what is before us. Darkness, on the other hand, makes it difficult to see clearly and can cause a person to lose direction. Darkness is the absence of light. From our opening scripture we saw that everything about God is consistent with clarity and holiness. Therefore, our relationship with God should affect the way we live. When we choose to follow Him wholeheartedly, we must allow His nature to influence the way we live. Imagine someone travelling on an unfamiliar road at night. Without adequate light, even a good road can become difficult to navigate. The challenge is that there is not enough light to take the next required steps when needed. When we walk with God, we may not know everything about tomorrow, but God, who knows tomorrow, keeps us from stumbling because He shines His light on us and on our path. There are things that show we are walking with God. First, we walk in light consistently. One of the things that happens to a believer who follows God wholeheartedly is that we walk in light. Walking in light speaks of living with understanding and divine direction. We become increasingly able to discern what God wants us to do and how we ought to do it. “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way; walk ye in it...” (Isaiah 30:21). Direction should not be an issue to the one who is walking with Light. 

The second thing that happens when we genuinely walk with God: There shall be no darkness in us. Apostle John in our scripture didn't only say that God is light; he also declares that “in him is no darkness at all.” This speaks of the purity and holiness of God. As believers, anything that contradicts God's nature must not be given a place in our lives. Darkness represents sin, sickness, deceptions, ungodly motives, and works that are contrary to God's will. Look at what Ephesians 5:8 says: “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.” A child of God has been brought out of the dominion of darkness. Our conduct should therefore reflect our new identity in Christ. When we discover a wrong attitude, we correct it. When we recognise a sinful practice, we repent. When we discover a wrong motive, we surrender it. When we receive instruction from God's Word, we obey it. A person who genuinely follows God does not try to hide from His truth. We allow His Word to search our hearts and bring our lives into alignment with His will. The goal is not simply to know more about God but to allow our lives to increasingly reflect who He is. This is it: a wholehearted walk with God should produce these two realities in our lives: receiving understanding and divine direction for our journey and refusing to accommodate what contradicts the nature and Word of God. The question is: Are we following God, who is LIGHT? Hallelujah!!!

PRAYERS
Father, thank You for Your Word, guide my steps and purify my hearts. Let my life reflect Your nature and keep me from every form of darkness in Jesus's name

    The goal is not simply to know more about God but to allow our lives to increasingly reflect who He is. Father empower me with the grace that propels my life to reflect who you are🙏
