DAILY ENCOUNTER
IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1
Glory to God! As we step into a new month, it is important to return to the place of the Word. The Word of the Lord is God Himself. You cannot separate God from His Word, and likewise, you cannot separate the Word from God. God and His Word are one. Our opening scripture took us back to the beginning. Before creation, before time as we know it, before anything was formed, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. This reveals the eternal nature of God's Word and shows us why the Word must occupy a central place in the life of every believer. As we begin this new month, get your study of the Word back on track. Return to reading, studying, meditating on, and declaring God's Word every day. Do not allow the busyness of life, distractions, or previous inconsistencies to keep you away from the Scriptures. Make the Word a daily habit again. There are at least two reasons why this is important. First, the Word is God Himself. Knowing the Word is knowing God. When you give yourself to the Word, you are giving yourself to the knowledge of God. The more God's Word fills your heart, the more His nature, thoughts, wisdom, and ways become established within you. The Word does more than give us information; it reveals God to us and transforms our thinking. When the Word gets into your consciousness, it begins to influence the way you think, speak, respond, and live. You begin to think in agreement with God and speak accordingly.
Secondly, the Word is God's instrument of creation. God created the heavens and the earth by His Word. What God said became what God saw. Creation responded to His Word. This teaches us that words have the capacity to shape and frame our world. If you desire to build a life that reflects God's purpose, you must first allow His Word to fill your heart. Jesus said, "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" (Matthew 12:34). What fills your heart will eventually find expression through your mouth. Therefore, if you want God's Word to characterise what comes out of your mouth, you must first put God's Word into your heart. You cannot consistently speak faith if you are constantly feeding on fear. You cannot continually speak God's promises if your heart is continually filled with doubt and unbelief. This month, make a deliberate decision to return to the Word. Read it. Study it. Meditate on it. Memorise it. Speak it. Pray it. Let it become part of your consciousness until it becomes part of your conversation and your lifestyle. Your world will eventually respond to what consistently comes out of your mouth. So fill your heart with God's Word, and let your words agree with God. Let the Word of God be the foundation upon which you build your life. Hallelujah!!!

REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- How consistent am I currently in reading, studying, and meditating on God's Word, and what can I do to make it a daily habit again?
- What words have been consistently coming out of my mouth, and do they reflect what God's Word says about my life and circumstances?
