THINGS FREELY GIVEN TO US

"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God." 1 Corinthians 2:12

Glory to God! As humans, we love gifts. We love to receive gifts from our loved ones, friends, and even from people we may not know very well. A gift communicates love, favour, thoughtfulness, and generosity. However, while we are often conscious of the gifts we receive from people, we can be ignorant of the many things that God has freely given to us. The Bible tells us that we have received the Spirit which is of God so that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. This means that the Holy Ghost does not merely come into our lives to give us an experience; He comes to reveal and make known to us the realities of our inheritance in Christ. There are things God has freely given to us that we could never purchase with money, earn by human strength, or achieve through our own wisdom. Salvation is a gift. The forgiveness of our sins is a gift. Righteousness is a gift. Eternal life is a gift. The indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit is a gift. Grace, divine wisdom, peace, access to God, and our inheritance in Christ are all expressions of God's generosity towards us.

The problem is not that God has withheld these things from us. The problem is that many believers do not know what belongs to them. We can have an inheritance and live as though we have nothing because we lack knowledge. This is why the Holy Spirit is so important in our walk with God. He searches the deep things of God and reveals to us what God has prepared and freely given to us. As we fellowship with God and study the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit brings us into the consciousness of what grace has already made available. We must therefore stop living from a mentality of spiritual poverty when God has already blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ. We must learn to discover what God has freely given us and walk in the reality of these provisions. There is a gift in everything only when exposed to us by the Holy Spirit. Whether it is a disappointment or appointment, heartbreak or love, wealth or poverty. There is a gift freely given to us by God for our profiting and establishment on the earth. We do not have to beg God to become generous. God has already demonstrated His generosity by giving us His Son and, with Him, making available everything necessary for our life and godliness. Our responsibility is to believe, receive, understand, and walk in what He has freely given to us. May the Holy Ghost continually illuminate our hearts to know and enjoy the things that are freely given to us of God. Hallelujah!!!

  1. What has God freely given me in Christ that I have not yet recognised, received, or walked in the reality of?
  2. How can I become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit so that I can discern the benefits and opportunities God is bringing out of every season of our lives?

PRAYERS
Father, thank You for the Holy Spirit. Open our understanding by your Spirit to know, receive, and walk in all that You have freely given us in Christ in Jesus's name
