A QUICKENING SPIRIT

"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." Romans 8:11

Glory to God! One of the reasons why the Lord Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit is for continual quickening. The Holy Spirit in the believer is a river of living water that springs forth eternal life. The eternal life we received at salvation is the life of God imparted to our spirits through the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we have within us the very Spirit of life. We cannot have the Holy Spirit and remain spiritually dead, inactive, or powerless. A quickened life is a life empowered, energised, refreshed, and strengthened by the Spirit to live and fulfil God's purpose on the earth. The Holy Spirit brings divine vitality into our spirits and enables us to function beyond our natural abilities. Our Lord Jesus lived a quickened life. He was anointed with the Holy Ghost and with power, and He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil. His life was a demonstration of what happens when a man yields himself completely to the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit supplied the strength, wisdom, power, and vitality required for His earthly ministry.

Our opening scripture reveals that the Spirit is able to quicken our mortal bodies. This means that the Holy Spirit does not only minister to our spirits; He also brings the influence of divine life to our physical bodies. When the quickening Spirit is recognised and engaged, He brings refreshment and renewal. He strengthens us when we are weak, revives us when we are weary, and supplies vitality when our natural strength is exhausted. He is the Spirit of life who works within us to help us fulfil the purposes of God for our lives through the strength and capacity He supplies. The challenge is that many believers are ignorant of the living Spirit within them. They know that the Holy Spirit lives in them, but they do not consciously engage His ministry. They look continually to external sources for what God has already made available within them through His Spirit. One of the ways we engage the ministry of the Holy Spirit is through praying in the Spirit. As we pray in the Spirit, we are yielding our spirit to the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to vitalise and build us up from within. There is a river of life flowing within us. We have received the Spirit of life, and we can continually draw from His divine supply if and only if we walk in constant fellowship with Him. Our lives will be continually quickened to fulfil God's purpose. It is time to engage the quickening Spirit and allow His life to permeate every area of our existence. We are not designed to live merely by natural strength. We have a quickening Spirit dwelling within us! Hallelujah!!!

  1. Am I allowing the Holy Spirit to empower me to fulfil God's purpose, or am I depending primarily on external help and human strength?
  2. What practical step can I take today to become more conscious of and responsive to the quickening ministry of the Holy Spirit?

PRAYERS
Father, thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit. Help us to recognize and continually engage His ministry in our lives. Let His life, strength, and power continually quicken us to fulfil Your purpose in Jesus's name

    A quickened life is a life empowered, energised, refreshed, and strengthened by the Spirit to live and fulfil God's purpose on the earth. I am empowered by the holy spirit to live a quickened life in Jesus name amen
