HEALTH TO THY NAVEL

"Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel and marrow to thy bones." Proverbs 3:7-8

Glory to God! One major way man can be deceived is through what he sees with his physical eyes. Not everything appears as it is at face value. It is unhealthy to rely on everything our eyes see. God is deeply interested in our health and wellbeing, and today we will learn how what our eyes see can affect how healthy we become. From our opening scripture, it began with “Be not wise in thine own eyes.” This is a warning against pride and self-dependence. Sometimes, we think we know what is best for our lives, but true wisdom begins when we acknowledge God and submit to His instructions. Humility before God protects us from decisions and lifestyles that can bring unnecessary trouble to our lives. The Scripture also says, “Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.” The fear of God is not terror; it is reverence, it is honour, and it is the willingness to live our lives in obedience to Him. When we choose God's ways over sinful practices, we protect our lives from many destructive consequences that could affect our health.

The way our eyes are fixed on what is right is when we fix it on the Word of God. What did God say in His Word concerning the way we live and what we do? When our eyes are fixed on God's Word, we are provided wisdom for how to live and for what to consume, either physical food or social media. We are also provided a way to relate with others and how to care for our bodies. When we give ourselves to fixing our eyes on God's Word in reverence and honour, the scripture says, "It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.” The navel represents the centre of one's being, while the marrow is found deep within the bones. This means that the wisdom of God brings a total health from our very core to every area of our lives. God desires wholeness, not only spiritually, but also in every area of our lives. Therefore, don't ignore the wisdom of God's Word concerning your life. Walk in humility, honour God, reject evil, and trust in His instructions more than you trust in what your eyes see physically. This is it; as you align your life with God's wisdom, you can confidently Know that your health is secured in Him. Hallelujah!!!
