DAILY ENCOUNTER
THE BATTLE FOR OUR MIND
"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;" 2 Corinthians 10:5
Glory to God! A battlefield is a place where opposing forces meet in conflict, each seeking to gain control and establish dominance. In the realm of the spirit, one of the greatest battlefields is the human mind. The enemy understands that if he can gain control of our thoughts, he can influence our emotions, our decisions, our attitudes, and ultimately the direction of our lives. Whoever holds our mind holds influence over our lives. This is why the devil constantly attacks the mind with lies, negative imaginations, condemnation, discouragement, and thoughts that contradict the Word of God. Many people are physically free but mentally imprisoned. They are held captive by what happened to them, what someone said about them, what they think they cannot become, or what they have concluded about themselves. The enemy wants to keep people bound to pain, reproach, rejection, failure, shame, and low self-esteem by continually feeding their minds with lies. But as believers, we must understand that every thought does not deserve a place in our minds.
Apostle Paul tells us in our opening scripture to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. This means we must learn to identify thoughts that contradict God's Word and refuse to allow them to become strongholds in our minds. God has called you to a life of purpose, but you cannot fully walk in that purpose while your mind remains captive to the lies of the enemy. You cannot consistently live above what you continually believe in inside you. If the enemy can convince you that you are worthless, you may live below your potential. If he convinces you that your past has disqualified you, you may abandon your future. If he convinces you that you will always fail, you may stop trying. This is why the battle for your mind is so important. We take a hold on our life by subjecting it to the renewal of God's Word. Every day, we must expose our minds to God's Word and let it become our standard for determining what we should believe about ourselves, our circumstances, our future, and our relationships. You have been called to fulfil God's purpose for your life, and you must be intentional about protecting the mind through which you will pursue that purpose. Take every thought captive. Renew your mind daily. Bring down every lie that contradicts God's truth. The battle may be in your mind, but victory belongs to those who submit their minds to Christ and allow His Word to govern their thoughts. Take hold of your mind today. Hallelujah!!!
