FASTING AND HEALING

"Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?" Isaiah 58:6

Glory to God! Fasting is more than abstaining from food; it is a spiritual discipline through which we can obtain healing and restoration in our lives. The act of fasting is the act of bringing our body (flesh) under subjection to the Spirit. It gives our spirit the power to superimpose its reality upon our natural reality. When we fast, we humble ourselves before God and are more atuned to His presence, which brings refreshing and healing to our soul. The spirit realm is very real and has its possibilities. Fasting helps us connect to the flow of the possibilities that is in the spirit. Our opening scripture reveals that God is not just interested in the practice of us fasting but in the power our fasting produces in loosening the bands of the wicked, in removing burdens upon our lives, in setting the oppressed free, and in breaking satanic yokes. It teaches us that the response to situations that are contrary to God's Word in our lives is fasting. When we experience burdens that are overwhelming, when we go through things beyond human and natural wisdom, it's time to tap into our divine nature through fasting in order to superimpose the reality of our divine life in Christ on our physical life.

Fasting helps us withdraw our dependence on the flesh and give greater attention to God. Fasting and healing can be connected because God's desire for us is wholeness, whether spiritually, emotionally, or physically. Looking further on Isaiah 58:8, it declares when we fast, "Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily." This tells us that through fasting our light can break forth, and our health can spring forth. Many believers don't know how to declare a fast for their own life. They wait for a general declaration of fasting before they engage in it. But if we are going to see light breaking forth in our lives, we must engage in the exercise of fasting without broadcasting it. What you do when you fast is also very important. Fasting should make you pray more, study God's Word more, listen more, meditate on God's Word more and worship more. It is not just abstaining from food but a conscious alignment with God. Fasting is not simply about an empty stomach; it is alignment and yieldedness to God. Are you going through a trying time? Engage in the exercising of fasting. Your health will spring forth speedily. Hallelujah!!!

  2. When I fast, am I simply abstaining from food, or am I truly aligning myself with God through prayer, His Word, meditation, worship, and obedience?
