IF I MAY BUT TOUCH

"And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole." Matthew 9:20-21

Glory to God! The story of the woman with the issue of blood is one of the most powerful stories in the Bible of what faith can accomplish when it refuses to give up. For twelve long years, she had suffered from a condition that had affected every area of her life. She had spent all she had seeking help, yet instead of getting better, she grew worse. Yet, when she heard about Jesus, something changed within her. She said, “If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.” Her words revealed the state of her faith. She had not given up on the possibility of being whole from her disease. Even when all she had invested in before to get healing had failed her, she didn't fail herself by giving up. Faith reaches out. There were many people surrounding Jesus that day, but one woman touched Him with faith and received her miracle. The crowd pressed against Jesus, but her touch was different. It was a touch born out of desperation to be healed, a conviction that she can't continue like that forever. Her touch was not just a touch; it was her faith reaching out with hope. Sometimes, we can be around spiritual things without experiencing their transforming power. We can attend church, listen to sermons, sing songs, and even participate in prayers, yet fail to reach out to Jesus with genuine faith. 

It is not merely proximity to Jesus that changes us; it is our faith in Him. The woman said, “If I may but touch.” She had made up her mind that one encounter with Jesus could change twelve years of suffering. She did not allow her past experiences, disappointments, or the opinions of others to stop her. Your condition may be long-standing, but it is not beyond the power of Jesus. Twelve years of disappointment could not destroy her faith. Many people would have given up, but not this woman. Jesus responded to her faith by saying, “Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole.” (Matthew 9:22). Notice that Jesus called her daughter before declaring her whole. He was not only interested in her condition; He was interested in her restoration. Today, you may have a situation that has persisted for a long time. You may have prayed repeatedly and wondered when your answer will come. Do not allow the length of the battle to make you doubt the power of God. Keep reaching toward Jesus in faith. One genuine encounter with Christ can change the story. Approach Him with expectation. Your faith in Christ can become the point of contact for a new chapter in your life. Jesus is still worth reaching for! Hallelujah!!!

  1. What situation in my life have I allowed the length of the battle or past disappointments to weaken my faith in Jesus?

PRAYERS
Father, like the woman with the issue of blood, who reached out to Jesus in faith, help me to keep believing even when the situation has lasted longer than I expected. Strengthen my faith, oh God, and let every long-standing situation in my life encounter Your transforming power in Jesus's name
