HEALING IS A PROCESS

Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.” 2 Kings‬ ‭5‬:‭14‬

Glory to God! Healing is not always an instantaneous experience. Sometimes, healing is a process that unfolds gradually until restoration is complete. Naaman could have dipped himself in the Jordan once and expected to be healed immediately. Yet, God instructed him to dip seven times. His healing came as a result of his commitment to the process. The first dip did not produce the visible result. Neither did the second, third, or sixth. But Naaman continued until he completed what God had instructed. On the seventh dip, his flesh was restored like that of a little child. This teaches us an important lesson: just because you cannot see the result yet does not mean healing is not taking place. There are situations where God heals instantly, but there are also times when healing comes progressively. When someone suffers an accident and breaks a bone, surgery may correct the injury, but the body still needs time to recover. The bone needs to mend, the muscles need to regain strength, and physiotherapy may be required to restore proper movement. The fact that the person is no longer in surgery does not mean the healing process is finished.

The same principle can apply to emotional and spiritual wounds. A person may receive an apology, but an apology does not always erase years of pain immediately. Someone may forgive, yet still need time to rebuild trust. A person may decide to move forward, but memories may take time to lose their emotional weight. Forgiveness can be a moment, while emotional healing can be a journey. Therefore, do not despise the process. Sometimes, we become discouraged because we expect everything to be completely restored immediately. But God is not only interested in bringing you out of the situation; He is also interested in making you whole through the process. Naaman had to keep dipping until the work was complete. There may be moments when you feel like nothing is changing, but keep obeying God. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep receiving His Word. Keep taking the necessary steps toward restoration. Do not mistake the absence of immediate evidence for the absence of God’s work. And just as Naaman’s seventh dip brought visible transformation, there will come a point when you look back and realise that God has brought you much farther than you thought. Stay with the process. Your healing is worth the journey. Hallelujah!!!

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  1. What area of my life am I becoming discouraged about because I am not seeing immediate results, and how can I choose to trust God through the process?
  2. What practical steps of faith, obedience, prayer, forgiveness, or patience do I need to continue taking while God works toward my complete restoration?

PRAYERS

Father, I thank You because You are the God who heals, restores, and makes all things whole. Help me not to despise the process when I cannot immediately see the results. Give me patience to keep believing, strength to keep obeying, and faith to trust Your timing. Heal every wound in my body, soul, and heart, and complete the good work You have begun in me in Jesus‘s name
